About NextLaw

Built by an attorney who learned AI the hard way — so you don't have to.

How This Started

NextLaw.pro started as an early experiment in AI-powered legal information. The original version connected to early AI models and charged a small fee for legal Q&A. It never gained traction — the AI wasn't good enough yet, the approach was wrong, and the market wasn't ready.

But what came out of that experience was a deep understanding of how AI works, what it's actually capable of, and how fast it's improving. Over the past few years, AI has gone from a curiosity to a genuinely transformative tool. Claude in particular has become remarkable — capable of sophisticated legal reasoning, nuanced analysis, and reliable drafting.

In early 2026, Anthropic — the company behind Claude — made legal one of its strategic priorities. They built Claude for Word specifically for attorneys. They partnered with major law firms. The transformation that's been building for years is now arriving fast.

“Most attorneys I talk to know AI is important. Very few know how to use it effectively for legal work. The gap isn't motivation — it's practical knowledge. That's the problem NextLaw is here to solve.”

— John Jensen, NextLaw.pro

Why Claude?

Not all AI is created equal for legal work. Claude, built by Anthropic, has several characteristics that make it particularly well-suited to the legal profession:

  • Long context window: Claude can process very long documents — entire contracts, depositions, case files — without losing track of details.
  • Careful reasoning: Legal work requires following complex chains of logic. Claude is built to reason carefully and flag uncertainty rather than confabulate.
  • Precision with language: Legal drafting is about precise, specific language. Claude understands the difference between 'shall' and 'may,' and drafts accordingly.
  • Constitutional AI: Anthropic built Claude with safety and reliability in mind. For professional legal work, that matters.

What NextLaw Is

NextLaw has two purposes. For the public: a free, AI-powered tool to get clear legal information — real answers, not just “consult a lawyer.” For attorneys: practical, hands-on consulting to integrate Claude into your practice in ways that actually save you time and improve your work.

This isn't a software product. It's consulting and guidance from someone who has spent years learning how to use these tools effectively for legal work — and who keeps learning as the tools evolve.
